National Green Technology and Climate Change Council (MTHPI)
Establishment of the National Green Technology Council (MTH) is a key strategy in the policy. In the National Green Technology Policy, the establishment of the MTH is component of the Core Strategic One and a high-level platform to coordinate the issues of green technology between the Ministries, agencies, private sector and other stakeholders (stakeholders) in the way to implement the policies.
The Cabinet in its meeting on 20th November 2009 agreed to the proposal of a Cabinet Committee of Climate Change and Environment which is under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (NRE) combined with the Green Technology Council under the Ministry of Energy, and Water, chaired by the Hon. Prime Minister.
FUNCTION
To formulate policies and identify the strategic issues in the National Green Technology Policy development and climate change. It also coordinates, monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of the National Green Technology Policy and Green Technology programmes and climate change at the national level.
STEERING COMMITTEE
The Steering Committee will meet up a month before the meeting of the Green Technology and Climate Change Council. This committee involves the Secretary General within the Ministries concerned and is chaired jointly by the Secretary General of KeTTHA & NRE. The Steering Committee will advise MTHPI the following matters:
(i) Coordination and cooperation between various government agencies;
(ii) Effective government policies and their implementation;
(iii) Improving the fiscal and support mechanisms and
(iv) Assessment of national policy mechanisms to support the objectives and policies of the Green Technology and Climate Change Policy.
WORKING COMMITTEE
Eight (8) of the Working Committee is established under the Steering Committee to assist MTHPI associated with a specific focus areas and involving the other stakeholders, especially the private sector and agencies. The Working Committees are as follows:
(i) Industry Working Committee;
(ii) Human Capital Working Committee;
(iii) Research and Innovation Working Committee;
(iv) Promotion and Public Awareness Working Committee;
(v) Transportion Working Working Committee;
(vi) Green Neighbourhood Working Committee;
(vii) Adaptation Working Committee; and
(viii) Green Development Working Committee.
